Re: Shooting hen turkeys

He absolutely did! I’m sure longspurs put him up to it. If it wasn’t him with a different moniker. Definitely a longspurs homey. :violent3: Neither one of them said “frank is great” so they didn’t slip in from Turkinator.. I don’t understand the “frank is great” or the old masters thing? Is that fr...

Re: Shooting hen turkeys

It’s ok to be passionate about what you love.. But some take it to the next level and attack people personally Not to derail but this is on target. Guy on the other forum called a guy gay, thread was deleted eventually and only one member called him out. He also made horrible comments about Native A...

Re: Federal Heavyweight #6

They shot very well for me in an 1187 with 26” barrel, Remington Super Full choke. Another option for you is to hand load HWT 7s. I bought a bunch of the 10ga 2oz loads of heavyweight 7s just to rob the shot for reloading. At 14.99 a box of 5 that works out to 24$ a pound for shot. I loaded a few 1...

Re: Federal Heavyweight #6

With @247 pellets in a 11/2 oz 20ga load pattern density will be the only issue. If your gun will pattern them good there sure won’t be a problem with penetration! I’d shoot them before any lead 20ga load

Re: Shooting hen turkeys

If shooting bearded hens is sound management practices why just bearded hens? If shooting a bearded hen has no bearing on turkey populations, would shooting a nonbearded hen not be the same? In Ohio we can take 2 gobblers per spring, should it be either or? I myself can’t see myself shortening my se...

Re: Shooting hen turkeys

Not trying to derail the topic, but is there any genetic abnormalities in a bearded hen that would affect her ability to nest? I’ve wondered the same about does who have a rack. I wouldn’t waste a tag on one. I have actually seen a bearded hen with young, on two different occasions. I won...

I wonder why they don't open a hen season two weeks prior to gobblers season. It would help with all this henned up talk

Far too many gobblers would be accidentally shot while being mistaken for bearded hens
