... Most O/Us will throw patterns from the upper barrel higher than the lower. That tendency is exacerbated if you shoot a heavier load in the top barrel.
I'll have to try that out.

Re: O/u guys

It doesn't appear to. You may find the bottom barrel hits several inches lower than the top.

Yep. Old trick to reduce rifle weight and easier than cutting down and sanding the original pad.

Cut it down. Add a flip flop pad. Increase length later with a slip on pad.

Re: Question?

You can't expect the warden to actually know the regulations. Should? Yes. Can? No. You can ask the specific one who works your area what he thinks, 'cause that's what makes the difference on whether you get a ticket or not.

Nothin' wrong with a new gun!

Re: Rib Mount Reflex sight mounts

Shame there’s not an “over the counter” rib mount for a FF akin to the mount for Aimpoint’s s-1 micro. Aimpoint is the ticket if you got $700 laying around. Aimpoint used Aimtech's Rib Rider before developing their dedicated sight. JP Rifles also has some rib mounts. The Rib Rider is solid on a Mos...

What you "will need" is another large wad of cash to cover them, that is how it used to be but maybe it has changed some, also keep in mind you are leaving a paper trail for the gun grabbers with badges, let us know.

Re: Perfect barrel length

Any if it suits your preference for whatever reason. I prefer a 26"+ for steadier hold and softer report. And I'll unload a break-action to use as a walking stick when crossing obstacles.

Re: .410 pattern .... honest opinions

Rather have a even 100 pattern than more with holes in it. My experience with .410 loads is being consistent and exact is important. Those fluctuations in numbers can come from not having petals all split the same and small variations in powder charge. The cheap electric scales a lot of us use show ...

Re: Rib Mount Reflex sight mounts

I have one done as pictured above. I asked for it to be mounted far enough forward that I could carry the gun at the balance point. If you're shooting both eyes open with a reflex style I don't see why it matters where the sight is. Having it forward where you can manipulate the buttons from a firin...

Re: Smoker recommendations

Electric is a lot easier. You can literally put a butt on at bed time and forget it 'til you take it off for lunch. You do need some source of higher heat if you want to cook your sauce on. I have an electric grill that'll do it, but it's not the same thing as my electric smoker. I use charcoal and ...

Re: Smoker recommendations

Some version of an electric water smoker is best. The trick is that you never actually burn anything making particulate to land on your meat making it bitter. Shame they quit making the old Brinkmann. You can make one pretty easily, though. If you have good exhaust on your kitchen you can just do so...

Re: Road trip

First time I ever went to Georgetown, SC the smell put me off feed until the trip was over. The car dealership there parks their inventory under sheds to protect them. I asked a local how they stood it. He said it just smelled like money to him. I was there for work, but it never smelled like money ...

Re: Black & Gold

Missed this in April. Interesting bird. Never seen one with completely black primaries. Is the shell brass or plastic? Gil Brass all the way for me these days! I didn't know color until I dashed up there. It tried to peak over the rise and ghost around. I couldn't see anything but head neck and fan...

Congrats! Great looking bird.

We killed one of those here in MT back in 2015.
That contrast is something else. Was there anything else unusual about the bird?

Re: New regulations for SC

Generating numbers to send in emails and present at meetings is what passes for work with government managers these days. I figure playing along with checking in harvests results in biologists at their desks when they should be in the field.
