Re: Black & Gold

I've used different chokes and loads and had good luck all around. Only one it didn't like was the Stubby XL. I've posted plenty of info on it on this forum.

Re: Can you hear it?

Some people are never able to hear extreme frequencies. I know some people who only hear drumming when it is very close, like 30 yards, if at all. You can feel it on your clothes when it's that close. So maybe there's part some can hear and part they cannot. Some speakers won't reproduce extreme fre...

Re: New regulations for SC

Regarding hens that do not nest, are there jennies which nest outside the study period and old hens past fertile years? I think if I wanted to get rid of turkeys in an area I could come up with a good strategy as follows: gobble up habitat with a housing boom, bolster numbers of avian predators, pro...

Did Francis Marion burn during nesting season again this year?
I cannot say that they didn't, but I didn't see any fires during the season.
That's good. They changed the schedule on some other federally controlled lands I know of elsewhere. I hope that is a trend.

Re: Help finding shot in meat?

My strategy is to let the wife do it. Last time some shot go in the breast she said, between making remarks about my shooting ability, that she would have to slice that part thin and hold it up to the light.

Typical government. Don't know what to do, but they'll never miss a chance to pass another tax.

Can you hear it?

I start at 50Hz and start losing some over 10K. 10K is around where my ears ring constantly. I lose it entirely over 13K. "1. Gobble: The pitch of the gobble is 400-4,500 HZ gobbling is loudest from the roost and loses volume from the ground The notes of older gobblers are generally loud and are dis...

Re: 410 double?

.410 throws a small pattern. That's why I started with a red dot.

It is likely that a .410 will have the same frame size as a 28ga. Not all, though. Are you looking for an O/U or SxS?

There ain't but one worth fooling with. Anything heavier and you might as well get a 28 or 20.

Re: Yildiz 20ga O/U

They're Yildiz specific as far as I know. There was some confusion in the translation of Yildiz saying their chokes are mobile in the manual. Some took that to mean Beretta style Mobil chokes.

They can take a lot of punishment. I've killed quite a few with multiple sizes of shot in them. Killed once this year with several dozen large lead shot in one breast.

I hope the person who pulled that stunt counted it toward his limit.

Never seen that. Several makers offer chokes. I have used Briley, Sumtoy and Trulock in the few of those we have had around here.

You probably don't need a turkey choke for a hunting pattern.

Re: S. Ga. Hunting buddy

I'm too cheap to shoot one. If they need killin I just pin it down and sever the head. Hardly ever have to, though. Water mocassins are different. They're worse than a gator for coming after you. I had one follow me around a pond one morning. Every time I ceded the spot, here it came again. Three st...

Re: S. Ga. Hunting buddy

Sat down in Mid Ga woods a couple weeks a go. Reached out to snap off a limb and noticed a six footer coiled up a little further up the limb. We discussed it a minute and decided it could keep that spot. It was the second snake I saw up about head level that day. I can watch the ground or the trees ...

Re: Left eye dominant and right handed

If he's left eye dominant having him shoot RH and close the left eye will all kinds of screw him up on wingshooting later. It doesn't help on rifle shooting either. I'll agree to not get overly excited at this age. You can't really get a straight answer from kids at that age a lot of the time. They'...
