The fact that you can shoot with the cover on is one of the features that I like about the FF3. I rarely take mine off to even shoot.

A roll crimped load has the tendency to be longer than a fold crimped load. The length is the issue.

Haven't heard anything about it either.

I've heard it could possibly have issues with the 3.5" coming from the magazine tube into the action. The first shot should be fine though. You could always back the 3.5" up with a 3" load. I load the 3" 2.25 oz. load for my SBE 2.

That rifled barrel will destroy that pattern.

This is season number 6 with the battery in my Docter sight.
