Re: Hearing enhancements

I use these listening for birds at fly up and sunrise.

Bluetooth capable, so you can take a cell phone call with them too. Nice at the range when I can hear others yet mute the gun blasts.

Re: Comments on the How to Process a Deer string

Have 5-gallon bucket water ready. Hang, wet the deer, and remove the hide as noted above, saw in half lengthwise, and take the loins out. De-bone everything else. Take the fresh de-boned meat to a processor for jerky, bologna, or sausage (anything needing dried or smoked, just don't hunt enough to m...

Re: Climbing Stands

Summit or Lone Wolf. Hard to beat Lone Wolf for the light weight and ease of packing in and out of the woods. I used a Summit for years, a sit / stand style climber and it was secure, and solid. Excellent quality. Good hunting buddy had a Lone Wolf and though I never used it personally, hunted with ...

I had a yellow mimosa in my front yard in Florida. Messy trees. And I couldn't find where to tap it for the drinks.
Looks like the yellow isn't as hardy. And if you ever would figure how to tap that tree, you're gonna be a gazillionaire George!

Help identifying this tree

What is this tree? Found it this evening on a drive here in Pennsylvania, however the property owner was new, and didn't know what it was. I have never seen anything like this. The property owner did say they thought the tree might be from "down south." Can someone help? Smelled like we were standin...

Don't do FaRcebook so definitely thankful for sites like this one! Thank you! I second this! I'm in this boat - not on social media other than the forums and I really enjoy stopping here. Reading the TSS threads and the patterning results just fascinates me. I remember when we started shooting the ...

Re: Mouth Calls vs Friction Calls and Trumpet style calls

I always carry a box. Often times two, and on occasion three. I always carry a long box or a mini boat; there is nothing more successful in yanking a gobble than these style box calls for me. If its raining I carry a waterproof production short box, I am that committed to their effectiveness. Run an...

Re: only 1 gun to turkey hunt with

Spur - I bought this gun brand new about 20 years ago, and sold it after patterning it with just four rounds of 3.5" - I literally was black and blue down my arm and across my chest. I never considered shooting 3" until after I replaced it with a pump, and regretted selling it ever since. This parti...

This. 12 gauge H&R, factory dipped, with a .660 JH choke and front/rear fiber optic sight added by Sumtoy. If I could change one thing about it, I should've asked Sumtoy to take 3 or 4 inches off the barrel.

Re: Can You?

Gets harder every year. I started a journal in high school, and got away from it for years. Came back about 15 years ago, but again never kept up with it. I do appreciate what I did write, capturing things that happened in the woods that I had forgotten from long ago. Excellent post - something we s...

One tactic in your bag of tricks...

Curious....What one tactic in your bag of spring turkey tricks you learned from a mentor or through hard-earned experience seems to produce or at least shift odds your way? Me, learned a long time ago if I strike a bird re-positioning forward, or if terrain dictates moving parallel of his position b...

I would venture to say they are not operational, under their Title V permit they are tracking the amount of particulate matter generated from driving on that unpaved road as part of their overall emissions. Likely still in the construction phase, not operational phase, still actively managing stormw...

Personally, the "right way" for me is to just wander around aimlessly in the woods until I find one that is hell-bent on committing suicide. All the rest of them can just stay there as far as I'm concerned.
Me too. Figure if I'm there eventually I'll trip across one ready to go.

FastFire III battery life

Quick question about the FFIII. Assuming I left the unit on, from sun up to sun down, and only turned it off at the end of the day, how many days would a battery last? Assuming brand new battery on day one, not left over from last year. Just estimated service life is what I'm curious about. Thanks f...
