Re: New Toy

These were the first chuck eyes I’d ever cooked, but they will be a buy every one they have item from now on.

Re: New Toy

Threw on two chuck eye steaks, green beans, and sweet onions last night in olive oil. Steaks were phenomenal. Green beans I could take or leave, but I think they just needed more seasoning and maybe a spritzing of vinegar while cooking.

Re: New Toy

Got the 28 washed down and seasoned with 5 rounds of Crisco oil last night. Took about 45 minutes and got a nice black season. Then threw on a bag of frozen hash browns, 2 pounds of bacon, fried some eggs, and made pancakes. I should have brought one of these years ago! I cook breakfast every Sunday...

No, if I was going to spend that on a gun, I would have one made for me to my dimensions.

That being said, I'll never spend that on a gun...

Re: Cutting and Rethreading a Barrel

I don’t see why not since the barrel is back bored to .742.

Best thing to do is call William Lambert (SumToy) or another reputable shotgun smith and they can answer the question for sure.

I’d love to have a 22” Maxus!

I’m in on helping you.

I’m from Alabama, but go to Michigan at least once a year and stay right on Lake Michigan. It’s a beautiful place and my family and I always enjoy our time there. We would hate to see it be polluted any worse.

Maybe the metal, but I’d leave the wood showing!

Yeah I'm in the not for me camp.

1-5/8 ounce is the highest I go in 20.

I reach for a 12 above that.

I would bet .665 IC in Invector Plus would be ridiculous tight or maybe even blown. I would try a .675 IC or ask them to make a .680 for you.
I like the .680 Carlson's in my INV+.
It is. With 1.75 ounces of T8’s my Maxus runs 250-265.

I bought a SumToy 672 to try when it cools off a little

Re: Automatic safety on gun

I have it on one SxS 12 gauge and I want to say the double 10 is automatic as well, but I honestly haven't shot it enough to even remember.

I'm indifferent on the subject. It is what it is, and if I like the gun enough I'll deal with the safety.

Re: Zero Turn?

I have a Gravely ZT48HD with a Kawasaki engine and 48" deck. It is my second Gravely. I put over 1200 hours on the first before selling it. It was the old model of what is now the ProTurn series. The current ZT48HD is not as heavily built as the ProTurn series, but it's a good bit cheaper. I think I...

I have the Indian Creek 665 for my Maxus and it shoots my handloads or TSS really well. Some like a 675 all the way up to a 696 with TSS depending on load.

Re: How was your season?

It was terrible for me in Alabama. I heard the fewest gobbles I have ever heard. Killed 2 birds, but none on my private land and it ALWAYS produces.

Most everybody I talked to said they killed 1 or 2, but those folks usually kill 5 and I'm the same way...

Re: why 9 over 8 tss?

I’ve been using 8’s and 9’s and I’ll go with straight 9’s from now on. I’ve killed a couple a long way with both and I haven’t seen an appreciable difference in the two. Pattern wise, the 8’s have a couple more holes than the 9’s, but heck either will kill to 60.
