Re: Choke recommendations Browning INV +

I have the Indian Creek 665 for my Maxus and it shoots my handloads or TSS really well. Some like a 675 all the way up to a 696 with TSS depending on load.

Re: How was your season?

It was terrible for me in Alabama. I heard the fewest gobbles I have ever heard. Killed 2 birds, but none on my private land and it ALWAYS produces.

Most everybody I talked to said they killed 1 or 2, but those folks usually kill 5 and I'm the same way...

Re: why 9 over 8 tss?

I’ve been using 8’s and 9’s and I’ll go with straight 9’s from now on. I’ve killed a couple a long way with both and I haven’t seen an appreciable difference in the two. Pattern wise, the 8’s have a couple more holes than the 9’s, but heck either will kill to 60.

Re: 2018 Ohio Spring Turkey Season Day 1

It always sucks to miss, but is sounds like you actually missed and that’s good.

I’ve missed a bunch. A whole bunch... most from not keeping my head down shooting beads. A few from them being 3-10 yards and bobbing as I squeezed the trigger.

Good luck to payback!

My iPhone says 7.8 miles was my longest walk this season. Anybody else keeping track of there’s?
I walked right 2.3 one way to the one I killed last Saturday. That’s one of the farthest I’ve ever walked to.

Re: Browning Choke Help

From talking with other folks running Inv Plus guns, the IC 675 can be the ticket if the 665 is a little inconsistent.

I got the 665 because it was a really good buy used, but if I keep hunting the Maxus for turkey after this season I will try a more open choke just to see.

I’m running a 665 IC in my Maxus with 1.75 ounce of T8’s. Hal’s load and I’m running at 240 consistently.

I use a Sumtoy 562-5 in mine and it is close to 300 with 1-5/8's of T9's.

I set up another one that uses the same load with a new RSFT and it is 270 or so on average.

Alabama where I hunt has been really hard this year. Bird population seems really down.
In south ALABAMA too. I normally kill my limit every year and I haven’t worked but two birds this year. It’s been rough.
They are still being stubborn, but I found 2 and killed both this weekend.

I don't see where it says interchangeable chokes on their site. Price wise Mossberg would probably be in the budget.

I have 2 20 gauge TSS Loads. The 1-7/16 ounce load in my 870 shoots within inches of Hevi 6's and Winchester 5's and also patterns well so I shoot it. The 1-5/8 ounce load shoots almost a foot off from these other loads and patterns much better, but I like the double beads on that gun so I don't sho...
