I have been using my 48er for probably 10 years of more.
For those with an adventurous spirit:

DO NOT TEST THE SHARPNESS WITH ANY BODY PARTS!!!!

I thought I'd add some pics for those who may not know to what we are referring.

I think, based on body sized & his sleekness, he was last years fawn.
He sure was a pretty little deer.

Day 21 of the 2019 Ohio Squirrel Season

As I drove back the waterway this morning, I encountered a doe that almost made me run over her before she ran into the corn. As I neared my spot, I saw a fox across the creek headed away. This is the 2nd time I have walked up on 1 in the same spot. Guess I’ll have to be sneakier! It was 07:32, over...

Head shot, Harry!! Nice shooting!
Thx. I was a little surprised at where I hit him. I thought he was looking right at me
but his head must have been pointed up as he took the hit on the underside of the
jaw which blew the whole top & right side of his head off.

Day 20 of the 2019 Ohio Squirrel Season

It was 83 at 12:52 with a sunny sky & a breeze in the woods which made it tolerable when I set up in “my” deer woods. At 01:26, a fox was walking towards me with 2 nuts in its mouth. Number 9, meet numbers 1-8. At 02:01, I saw a bushy moving south but too far for a shot. I watched it for several min...

Interesting. Around here the grays are abundant, with an occasional fox.
When I lived in southern Indiana, all we had were grays no foxes or PIAs.

Florida had mostly grays with some of the craziest looking foxes ever, all kinds
of different color arrangements. Foxes were protected down there.

Do you ever shoot any gray’s, George?
In all the years I have hunted here, I have only seen 1 gray in the woods & shot it a few years ago.
They have all become citified. I know of 3 small towns that have a good population of black phased
grays.

Day 18 of the 2019 Ohio Squirrel Season

I was ready to go in the woods behind the house at 03:00 with the temp at81, sunny, & a breeze that made it pleasant in the woods. The drive lane parallels the creek part way back & I “flushed” A Great Blue Heron. I had the 4-wheeler hitting 20 MPH & it was pulling away. It really did shake a tail f...

Day 17 of the 2019 Ohio Squirrel Season

It was 78, breezy, & sunny with a few clouds when I set-up at 12:33. The strong breeze made it comfortable. At 01:32, I started to walk through the east section of woods. I stopped to off-load some ice tea & saw something moving on a dead fall. I couldn’t tell what it was as it was in the shadows & ...

Nice day in the woods, George. Do you use hearing protection with the .17 or isn’t it necessary?
Thx. No ear protection as it's really not that loud. It's basically a necked down .22 mag. Besides,
even with squirrels, the adrenaline flows & I don't really hear the report.

Day 13 of the 2019 Ohio Squirrel Season

It was 90 when I hit “my” deer woods at 01:00 this afternoon, sunny with a few clouds. It was fairly windy so that help keep the temp down in the woods. The action literally started immediately as, at 01:05, a fox scampered across in front of right-to-left into the under growth with no shot. At 01:3...

Day 12 of the 2019 Ohio Squirrel Season

It was 68 sunny with a few high, fluffy clouds & calm at 07:32 when I was set-up. At 07:36, a coon wandered in & went up a tree into the leafy top. At 07:40, there was a lot of squalling, caterwauling, & limb shaking. I think the wifey was giving him what for for being out carousing all night. By 07...
