Hunter, what method do you use to clean you squirrels? Love them in a pie or stew, but they are a pain to clean. Thanks, Wayne.
The 1st string in this forum has a detailed explanation.

Re: To all Our Florida Members & Friends

I lived in Brandon when the 4 hurricanes hit in 2004. The damage was really bad.
That is the year I decided to move back to Ohio. Hang in there folks.

To all Our Florida Members & Friends

All y'all be safe & careful down there.

Doug, What's the outlook for the Brandon/Plant City area? According to what it looked
like on the news last night, landfall is going to be a lot further north than Tampa.

Do you use shooting sticks or just lean on the tree? I’m assuming that they’re not all freehand shots. Impressed as Hell if they are!!
I am seated for most of the shots but have used a tree. Only a couple freehand. The .17 Savage has a bull barrel & it is a little hard to shot free.

Thx.

George.. You’re going to grow red tail with all that squirrel that you eat. BTW...Nice, stinkin’ shooting!! Thx. I don't really eat that much. Prolly 10 years ago, I took a few squirrel meals to Gobbler's Roost in NY for the fall season (chowder was a huge hit with Ron's boss, Ms.. Kathy) & i...

nice story George. I wish I took the time to document hunts or pay as close attention to detail as you do. I think I worry too muck about the next one and think little of the last.
Thx. I basically do it so I have the memories to read when the time comes where I can't get out any longer.

Day 38 of the 2018 Ohio Squirrel Season

After lunch today, I decided a nap & I couldn’t think of a better place in the woods. It was 85, sunny, breezy, & cooler in the woods at 01:15. I nodded off within almost immediately for about a 15 minute power nap. At 01:42, I spotted a fox moving from my left to my right. I got the x-hairs on it &...

Day 32 of the 2018 Ohio Squirrel Season

I got back to the woods at 01:45 with the temp at 78, overcast skies, & windy. At 03:00, I headed back to the pond & saw a solid black raccoon leaving the far edge. I could barely make out the rings on its tail. I have never seen 1 that was all black. It was lucky the season isn’t in. The skeeters g...

Day 29 of the 2018 Ohio Squirrel Season

It was 50, sunny with a few high clouds, & breezy at 08:04 this morning when I got back to “my” primary turkey woods. At 08:14, I looked to my right & saw a bushy about ¾ ways up a tree. I couldn’t get turned enough for a shot, so I got up &, keeping a fair sized beech tree between us, moved to that...

Day 28 of the 2018 Ohio Squirrel Season

I went back to “my” deer woods to change the card in my trail cam at 12:30 with the temp at 71, sunny, & breezy. As I walked back to my squirrel spot, I jumped a doe & 2 fawns. At 12:52, a fox started scolding behind me &, at 12:57, another started in front to the left of me. Neither 1 showed itself...

Thx guys. Bow season opens Sat & others hunt back there. I'm in the process of tearing down a barn & milk house,
removing a stone wall & building another, drawing up the plans for a new building,& a lot of other things that are
more important than cutting up a tree.

Day 26 of the 2018 Ohio Squirrel season

It was very overcast this morning so I didn’t hit the woods until 08:33, temp 69, & a light breeze. It was pretty damp so I wore a jacket to keep from getting chilled. At 09:19, a fox ran up a leaning dead tree into the tops & disappeared. The wind had also picked up noticeably. At 10:00, I headed b...

Day 21 of the 2018 Squirrel Season - Kinda Sorta

I needed to change the card in my trail cam today & decided to spend 2-3 hrs squirrel hunting. It was 88, sunny, & windy when I sat down at 12:40. The wind was pretty gusty & branches were dropping. When a large 1 hit the ground about 10 yards from me, I decided to call it a day. These 4 puffers wer...

Thats the only way to shoot squirrels in my opinion! I am living vicariously through you George until I get to go.
Sure makes me wanna go.

Good job too!

God Bless, Louis
Thx Louis. I use a .17 HMR & it will flat tear up a squirrel so a head shot is the only option.

You can replace the green peppers with red, yellow, or chocolate (brown) peppers.
