Looked like a big one. You saved a bunch of deer and turkey when you took him out.

Re: favorite rifle caliber?
My favorite for hunting deer would be 30-06 with a 165 grain Sierra bthp pushed @ 2900 fps. I ain't had a deer make it out of sight with that round.. But there all good a long a you're slinging lead.

Re: A5 with Long Beard
Lead has been killing them for years. The only time HTL is needed is if you are shooting over 40. Lead has enough penetration to take a turkey @ 40 with 6's. For me I can consistently kill Turkeys with #8 dove loads if I wanted.I don't think I have shot one any further than 25 yards in 3 years. Our ...

Re: TURKEY AMMO GOING UP $$$
I'll never pay $35 dollars for 5 shells to harvest any animal...$7.00 a shot to kill a turkey!!!! I'll just be a little patient and wait til he crosses the 40 yard line and kill with the cheapest lead shell I can buy....ridiculous !! Man! If all you pay is $7 per animal harvested, that's dang cheap...

Re: Turkey Ammo Going up $$$$ So are Egos!!!!
Well I ain't gonna gripe about the cost, but here in Alabama I don't use anything but lead most places I have to hunt, because the longest shot I can make in these woods is 35-40 yard max.. Now of I am gonna be going to place that has more fields I put mag blends in. Next year hopefully will be tss....

Re: David Halloran Turkey calls....Anybody use them?
I make my own calls that I call The SPURSUADER and they are Pot/Peg friction calls of various woods. I have always tinkered with building Turkey calls, Some are Wing-Bone, Scratch, Box ETC but before I got serious a year or so ago...I carried David Halloran calls...I have a Aluminum in Birdseye map...

Below is a link to the Turkey Thug Seat on Wal Mart's website. I have not checked in the store, but these are two totally different seats from the Turkey Thugs seat and the Gobbler Lounger. Post up a pick TT if what you have is different. Thanks, Kevin http://www.walmart.com/ip/Mossy-Oak-Turkey-Thu...

Re: Lead, Lead, Lead
I've had some really good luck with lead. What I've found is the harder, the better. I have some old Magnum Grade that's pretty hard, harder than some NP I've tried, and it gives really nice patterns. The best patterns I've gotten have come from NP shot from PR, it's pretty hard. I've found that 6s...

Re: Lead, Lead, Lead
I just loaded one round up yesterday that I think I am gonna work with a little and hunt with this year. It was 1.875 oz of #6 in a 3" shell, I got 110 in the 10" at 40, temp was 54. Do any of you have a load for 6x7 mix most of the places I hunt you can't see past 30 yards anyway, I could...

Re: Hornady 130gr sst?
I use the sst for .308 reloads in 165gr they work great for me good exits on all except for one. On that one it centered the shoulder bone and it was just under the skin. But it done a lot of damage on the inside
