Re: This time tomorrow...
Right there with ya! Heading out to turkey camp at noon today. Bags have been packed for the last 2 nights. Glad it's here, I was about to get tired of my shotgun whispering to me every day and asking when she could go unleash hell on some gobblers.

I think I know what you mean.Terminology is difficult sometimes.Myself I read on here where you guys talk about roll over. What the heck is that ? Show me what you mean .Then I get it. For a yelp, I've always called rollover the transition from the "yee" to the "auck" and how sm...

Re: Drumming
Funny this thread got brought back up. I said in the initial post I couldn't hear drumming and if I did not very well. I don't know what changed, maybe age. But, the last two springs I have heard drumming very well inside of 100yds. I can't course it very good, but I can hear it pretty well. I was s...

Re: 3 inch roll crimp vs 2 3/4 fold crimp.
Basser69 shoots the 3" in his rem 1100 20ga and it does just fine. As mentioned we trimmed the hulls ( 1 5/8 load) and it shoots and cycles fine. He did a ton of research before doing it for safety reasons but said it was fine. For what its worth.

Re: 20 ga recoil
I am loading the TSS 1 5/8 load of 8's in a 870 compact 20ga and the recoil is barely noticeable. My 1300 in 12ga would re-align your collarbone for you. If recoil is that big of an issue I would look at the 28 or .410 and load TSS for it.

Within 75 yds I usually use silence, like the hen walked away. More leaf scratching than anything if I call that much at all. If I feel like I need to call, then its a diaphragm clucking under my breath.

Each shell and choke combo will shoot different. Thats why you don't sight in to zero first. Once you find the choke/shell combo you like, zero the gun in to the POI you want.

Re: Have the best
I think that is a tough question. Turkey hunters from the 50's and 60's had fewer turkeys to work with which gave a level of difficulty, but there were also fewer turkey hunters. Today, with the media and the film industry touting hunting, there are more people than ever in the turkey woods it seems...

Since this got brought up again, here is a pic of a target at the range after I was trying to get a couple scopes sighted in. Holes from a 7mm-08, a .35 Rem and a 45/70 showing. Can ya'll pick out which is which? :) http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v497/NedL/ED6939F9-5EBE-4848-8684-1FB5C1C38802-131...

Re: All Day Hunting
Here in Alabama we went from a 3 bird limit to a 5 bird limit a good while ago. It's one bird a day, no more than 5 a season. So, you can't kill multiple gobblers in a day to go toward your 5 bird limit. Hens are not legal any time of the year. Our season is 6 weeks long and you can hunt all day fro...

Re: which state has the best turkey hunters?
No way to tell, but I'd bet that if an answer could be ascertained, it would be somewhere in the southeastern corner of the US. Mike I agree with Mike. It's got to be somewhere between GA and MS, with maybe TN thrown in there. But my vote is Alabama. Those guys seem to take turkey hunting a little ...

When it gets closer we need to set up a meet time for everyone staying at The Guesthouse. We also have a bunch more Alabama boys staying next door at the Country Inn that could come over and meet up.
