Re: Anyone recommend a factory .410 shell

A gas 20 might be another option but Neither of us own one. I have a selection of .410 in HB1135 fps 11/16 ^ winchester.Express along range 7-1/2 remington and federal hi power 8's. I'll test these and see if I get a descent 25-30-yard pattern.
Thank you

Anyone recommend a factory .410 shell

My buddy had surgery and has been restricted to no heavy recoil guns for 3 months, great timing huh? Any recommendations for a factory load that would give him a 25-30 yard chance with my old bolt action Jc Higgins .410? It's not marked as for the choke but hopefully it's full. I'll shoot it this we...

Re: A little dissappointed in my 870 TSS results so far.

So is lil gun hard to find? I still have a near full can but if its a tough find I guess I need to find a back up. I got a lot tighter 10" with the 3"-1-5/8 but I get a real even 10-20" with the big stubby XL shooting lil powder in it at a reduced rate of 27.5 I think. I got great patterns in my sho...

Hey HAl, I know you wouldn't steer me wrong, I was just curious what the others were doing using the wrap, I guess they are just using a different wad?

The Big stubby recipe I have from Hal calls for the vp90 wad and no mylar. Are yall using a different wad or recipe or just adding the wrap?
Thanks

Re: 1 5/8" TSS recoil?

In my 870 with the sureshot stock and the good Remington pad not bad at all, in the 220b its a pretty good punch even with a limbsaver slip on. I also had the forcing cone lengthened on the 870 for this very reason. William at Sumtoy said it likely wouldn't help the pattern, it would reduce recoil a...

I'm in the process of starting to buy everything now. I've got everything ordered except the powder and a drill press. I'll be ready for next year. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk In light of current conditions maybe the powder should be the first thing you order if you want it by next year. :| ...

Re: Where to find 28 gauge cork filler wads for tss

The punch I got from e-bay fits a 28gauge cork perfectly. It also says 9/16th on the punch if that helps. I dont own a 28 gauge so this is all I know.

Thanks, what are PB 7.5's? I'm going to convince him that reloading is not that hard or complicated but something like this might work till then for a close shot.

410 users ??

A buddy called me asking if there was a factory load available that was sutable for turkey hunting and I told me I didnt know but would ask at a couple of forums. I assume most everyone shoots TSS and a factory 410 load would likely be most likely a 25 yard range maybe?
Thanks

Re: looking for 28 ga 1/8"cork filler

Flopping tom, I wonder if we had a spent 28 gauge shell, if the brass would cut the right size. I have went through all my plumbing stuff and everything I have still wont punch out small enough. If I find some or a way to punch a few out I'll mail you some till they are back in stock.I only have 6 le...

Give your choke a quick cleaning to clean the internals as well
Stubby is a recipe from Hal for the 1-5/8th in a 2-3/4.

My rig, same gun sight and choke but William called mine a 570F shot crazy numbers in the 10 380s and for a while after I first got it back, this was through a fresh polished barrel and the 3" 1-5/8 #9 load. I havent shot this year but last year during and after season my counts seemed to drop and w...

Pattern question

Do you guy swab out the barrel with alcohol or a dry swab between shots? I often see better patterns from a dirty barrel and wondered what most folks do to be consistent.
Also how long does a barrel polish last? Is 1 time enough, every few years or number of shells?

Remington, last time I tried only have it in black. But the camo kit that is labeled for all 870s will work even though its for 12 gauge with slight modification with a dremel tool and adding a pvc sleeve to the forearm.

I made a tool out of a copper plumbing sleeve and a grinder and file. I did find 1 on Amazon as well.
