speaking of hevi shot, what do you think a flat of Remington 3" 20 ga #5 HS is worth?

Re: Who's shooting 8's
I must have a weak gun-- I have found 9's that were only half way thru, and that wasn't at 60 yds. It seems to be a tricky area. I have seen BB hevi shot not be a pass thru, but have killed several deer with them, the same with 4 mm tss, which I use for deer. was not a complete pass thru at 35 yds o...

Re: TSS for Deer?
Hog--- has loads for the 12 ga, just go by weight and you are good. I shoot 1 1/4 oz 4mm in 20 ga. works for me. Some people use 4.5mm, some 5mm. I like to keep the count up. but in a 12 ga you could use 5mm and still get a good count. You may not find any of them under the skin on the far side, lik...

Re: Longbeard 3.5" #4's
Lead 6's & 4's have and will kill turkeys. I would have loved to find a shell that shot like the LB do today. That being said, the hard shot from Hevi 12 g/cc on up will kill them better--not deader, but better, and once I started using it, didn't take long to find out.

Re: 20 gauge market
A while back, when I was younger[50 yrs.] and wouldn't have thought of shooting a turkey with a 20 ga., I met a elderly gent that was using a 20 with low brass #8. He said, it doesn't take much to knock them over. Now I even use one for deer hunting. I switched for the weight. About 10 yrs. ago, dri...

Re: New 20 ga Turkey Hammers
Nice job!! You mentioned your shoulder. This evening, when trying a 1 7/16 oz load out of a benelli auto, after the first shot I went and got a slip on recoil pad, and went to a sitting position that allowed a little more backward movement. Those paper shots can be tough on the recoil, be ready!!!

Re: 20 Gauge Semi Suggestions
I remember the old days, when I thought more shot the better. Found a 1 3/4 oz activ case, reload for 12 ga 2 3/4". Didn't pattern very good, with small shot or #4 bk. but it kicked enough, that after a couple split forearms, and a rounded hump, instead of flat, on a Browning A5, that shells he...

Nice wife, and gun. {I think she all ready has an idea what each turkey costs you} You need to find time to do more hunting, so you can break in these new additions.

I didn't see those the first time. I wouldn't have thought one choke size would have made that much diff. Hal needs to see what his gun does.

Toasty what size HW are you using for ducks and geese? Is this shot you got at a good price, or do you prefer it over tss for some reason.

Re: 28 gauge auto
Looks to me like a 1 oz load would be about equal to a 12 ga. with 2 3/4" #4 buckshot. That killed a lot of deer for me.
I am only using 1 1/4 oz in the 20 ga. works for me.
