Re: 20 ga. 1-5/8 TSS vs. Same in 12 ga.
Wasteful and overkill is only in the eyes of others and are only opinions.
I shoot a 2oz load of TSS in a 12ga and see no reason to change.

Re: Accidental gun discharge
Once. Was lowering the hammer on a pistol that was pointed at the ground and it slipped off my finger just enough to hit the pin and fire. I was startled to say the least.
I wasnt there but a friend of mine slipped while deer hunting and had his 30-30 fire when he fell. Scared the crap outta him.

Re: Mascara for the hunter
I dislike wearing a mask while bowhunting so i paint it up. Carbomask brand works well, isnt greasy and washes off easy enough.
I too think some of these tv hunters look ridiculous, especially when they use all black in some goofy pattern.

Re: THE NEW TURKEY HUNTERS
Ive got a buddy that stalked in on a gobbler years ago hiding behind round bails getting as close as he could. He needed a few more yds to be in gun range, so he ran out from behind the last bail towards the bird those last few yds and killed it.
Thats the only time ive ever of this being done.

Re: 60 yd Big20XL for fun
It looks sparse for 60 to me. No doubt it would kill though. What are your 40yd counts with the same set-up? Yes I thought it did too, I get 300-330 at 40 with a clean bore. Please note that this 60 was after 5-8 rounds. Really dirty So not a very realistic test. Any reason you didnt clean the barr...

Re: 11-87 reliability
I've got an older one I use to turkey hunt. 3" model. I did sort of an overhaul 2 summers ago by replacing the recoil & magazine springs, a buffer piece in the back of the bolt, o-ring, Duracoated the action, bolt, barrel, scope mount and rings. It also sports the Surestock camo pistol grip...

Re: Even patterns
How short is the barrel'?
We've had some difficulty finding a good load even with a Stardot choke in my dads 835. The barrel is super short. Even a buddy of mine commented on it the other day.

Re: 11-87 super mag ????
Ive got an 11-87, but not the supermag. I shoot handloads outta mine using 2 different Sumtoy chokes.
If i recall correctly, before i got into handloading, it shot in the 280's using a Sumtoy turkey choke in .643 dia with 3" factory hevishot 7's.

If you know of a spot where they pitch down to, hunt that same spot for a week. Get there early!! I would guess in a weeks time, theyll pitch down there at least once, maybe twice. Make no sound and let them do their thing. I know...... Its ambushing them, but sometimes thats the only thing you can ...
