Re: The "Borrowed" 28 Gauge
I bought the same gun last year. Only got to shoot 1 with it, so I’m glad to hear positives about its performance!!

I got banned over there for asking about Doc’s annual re-cap. Had no clue he’d been banned. Nobody told me anything. I just tried to log on one day and couldn’t.

We too have the problem of governor appointed wildlife commissioners. Normally gonna be very wealthy and politically connected guys. They do not represent the norm.

Re: Shooting hen turkeys
What are the fundamental principles of scientific management for turkeys. Should hens never be shot in any case?? Is there such things as overpopulation in turkeys??

Re: Shooting hen turkeys
Is there some proof in state mgmt plans that back the reasoning that allowing bearded hens to be killed is to protect those that might shoot one for a gobbler ?? I’ve only recently heard that, but never thought that before. It makes sense, but I’m not sure that’s correct.

Re: Shooting hen turkeys
I agree that they probably won’t starve, but I do think Mother Nature has a way of handling turkey overpopulation via disease. I’ve never had a desire to kill a hen nor been to place where I thought it was necessary.

Man JDJ......I read this same post over there and you are right!! Those guys took it to a new level and it apparently got pulled by the mods. I doubt Aaron and them will apologize too much for the hen killing, but I don't know. I think they are gonna talk about it in a video or a pod cast coming up....

Re: New regulations for SC
I agree with everything Poorcountrypreacher says above. I’d like to see decoys eliminated too, but habitat is the ticket. I an fortunate to live on a large tract of private land. We don’t use decoys and we rarely kill the dominant gobblers because they are not normally workable until the end of seas...

Thanks guys!! I am pretty open as to where to go. I’m flying into Grand Rapids. I was advised to go to this area, but it sounds like I should’ve gone a little further north maybe.

I’m headed up from MS on Wednesday. I know where I’m hunting and staying, but had some questions about the terrain on the public land that I’ll be hunting. If there is someone out there that would PM me I’d sure like to pick your brain for a minute. There are a few things that are hard to tell just ...

Well.......did you ever kill on Hookspur? Speaking of a confidence killer.......I had to leave SW PA this year where I was hearing multiple birds every morning without a kill. It really hurt my feelings to drive away from there!!! I left Florida once without a bird on a LE hunt at Lake Panasofkee. I...

I understand man. I just finished volume 1 of the book and it was great. Looking forward to #2. Being halfway through a state slam I can relate to a lot of things you write about. Just wish I had more time every spring, but with 3 kids and a wife time is precious!!
