Re: Back from Trip Home
Shane, a great tour down memory lane and great times with the family. Especially the hunts with your brother. Enjoyed it all. Son and I are headed to our place in Oklahoma next week. Hopefully we will see some birds this trip. Been a couple years since we even heard one! Good luck in OK. You really...

Re: Back from Trip Home
I just talked to my brother about a bird we tried to kill one of the days I was there. My brother had accidentally roosted him and gave the landowner a call and got permission on a small piece of property where the bird was roosted. It'd been windy the night before and he'd had trouble pinpointing h...

Re: Back from Trip Home
Great photos and write up Shane, looks like an awesome trip. Interestingly, I killed a turkey in Illinois last spring that’s tail looked just like yours. I’ve never seen an Eastern with a tail like that. Thanks. I've killed several of them like that back home but would have preferred the dark one m...

Re: Back from Trip Home

Re: Back from Trip Home
I've killed a bunch of gobblers w/ the original Remington Hevi-Shot loads, 5's and 6's, and those shells are still the best factory waterfowl loads ever made. At 40 yards the lead difference between the 1225 fps and 1300 fps loads on a flying goose is only @ 3 inches. Hope you had a great visit hom...

Re: Back from Trip Home
We made it back to MT. If not for work and needing to get the granddaughter back for school, I'd have delayed our flight back until Friday.
Flight back in.

Re: Back from Trip Home
I'd forgotten that Dad had one of the Greenleaf MO 870s until a buddy that had admired it reminded me. The gun was traded long ago. I came across a MO sling while digging around for a gun case and wondered if it came from that gun. My online search for photos and a confirmation from someone here ind...

Re: Back from Trip Home
I heard my share of gobbling and drumming and saw my share of strutting during the week. I should have filled my second tag but apparently have forgotten how to line up double beads after using a red dot for 6 or 7 years. It was a crappy way to end the week but a good trip nonetheless. A few scenery...

Okay files aren't too big it doesn't like my copy paste from a word doc. I could have sworn I'd done it multiple times. ??? Back to the trip: I had a good trip home to visit and hunt. I was able to hunt with my brother and my nephew. I killed one gobbler and my brother killed one. I had to walk away...
