Terrain and habitat. For over 40 years I know of a handful of spots that are a waste of time preseason scouting because birds are always there. Gil

Re: Chufa- Is it worth it?

I've heard of folks making bread from the tuber. It has a sweet, nut-like flavor eaten raw. I've read that farmers would often plant a small patch and let their hogs into it just before slaughter, fattening them up and improving the flavor. Our patch was not more than 20 x 100 yards. Steve, that's a...

He got more consistent results by freeing open the slits by breaking through the "stitches" (small connections).

I saw my first llama pack train over 25 years ago while trout fishing the South Mills river in NC. I was a handful of river crossings up stream when they came by me from down stream loaded with gear. There were at least 4 in the train. Gil

Re: FF3 How far from face?

These small 1X reflex sights were designed for multiple purposes including pistol use which obviously requires extended arms with distances from the eyeballs farther than a rifle or shotgun mount. We've adapted them for our purposes. Whatever distance is comfortable for the shooter is the right dist...

Re: 13/16 vs the 370NM load

Always slit wads. An unslit wad will tumble and will often go down range with the gas seal forward like a badminton shuttle cock. I learned this by patterning 10 gauge loads with partially slit wads or with only two slits. We'd dig out the Pattern Driver wads that penetrated 3/4" plywood at 40 yards...

Ziplock bag with two or three shells in your pocket. Roll it up and put a wide rubber band around the outside of the "package".

Better is the enemy of good enough. The Fast Fire series is a cheaper (less expensive, not shoddy) version of the more expensive Docter series. Big plus for FF series is Burris's customer service. There must be hundreds of them in use and rarely is heard a complaint here or on other boards.

Anyone hear how Purdue did in the bowl game? Just curious... I can still see Woody Hayes running out on the field during a play and punching the Clemson linebacker Charlie Bauman after he intercepted a pass with two minutes to go in the 1978 Gator Bowl. Woody was gone after that craziness. Woody mus...

Re: Sights on Yildiz .410 Single

In looking at one with the stock removed, there appears to be enough metal thickness above the pin to judiciously drill and tap for screws. It's also a fairly flat surface. Seems I recall someone who cast a base to fit that section of the action. There was a poster from W. VA. who hotglued a piece o...
