Re: Phones

My problem with the Otter box is that water vapor (sweat) would sometimes get between the Moto X's screen and the inside of the box's screen protector which interfered with the touch screen features. It was damn near impossible to remove the box from the phone. I hated the damn thing. As a preventat...

Re: Phones

Any number of cellphones can survive a dunking. The top cameras are in the Google Pixel series, the Iphones and the Samsung Galaxies. I have a Pixel XL. It has a tempered glass screen protector and a case that will survive and protect against a 10' drop. It can survive a 30 minute shallow water dunk...

Re: 20 ga dove gun

If you already have problems shooting a 20, a full choke will only make it worse. Stick to Mod or IC and shoot only those within 30-35 yards. I like #8 on early season dove when they typically are smaller and not heavily feathered. Late season migratory birds are bigger and heavily feathered. For th...

Measure it, weigh it and have a fiberglass model made to the specs. You can have your fish mounted and eat it, too. Gil P.S. Years ago I caught a 51 lb. sailfish off the Georgia coast fishing with a late buddy. I took the fish to the taxidermist's local representative. The company was a well known t...

Man that's nice. You need one of those. You should also plant some wisteria in with it. And add a little kudzu for a nice ground cover. Gorgeous.   :angel4: A late friend's father was county agent in Tallapoosa County, Alabama. He is credited with introducing kudzu in th...

I’m almost scared to post pictures of how dull and scratched up it is. Sloppy Snoods probably looks perfect. But I hunt mine and it has been the demise of several gobblers. Rather hunt them than collect Mine didn't get scratched to bad, but it is prone to get bloody. This picture is from the first ...

Damn, George, you are lucky to be alive. You made the case for head protection for sure. My BIL is a board certified ER doc and his nickname for motorcycle is "donorcycle". That scar on you knee needs another scar to make it a complete turkey track. ;) Gil

Re: Combat Wipes

You gotta admit "Combat Wipes" sounds a little tougher than "Baby Wipes." ;) The 8" x 7" size is handier, too. These will be used for special occasions--daily devotionals during the early hours of spring season. I've tried the "moist wipes" from Kroger and the small size (7" x 5") is touch and go if...

Combat Wipes

When you positively, absolutely need to go....
I field tested them this afternoon in the woods while mushrooming. Beats cutting off a shirttail or using a glove.
I got mine from Amazon, but I see where Target has them, too.

Those old zipper covers are probably no longer made. These Beartooth neoprene comb raiser kits would protect and camo the bulk of the stock. Be simple to fabricate a sleeve for the forend.

Years ago someone made stock and forend coverings that had a zipper for easy removal and covering. A buddy has them on his Mag 10 Deluxe. Gil

Dipping, painting, etc., are more often to please the hunter rather than to avoid displeasing a bird. Gun "skins" could do the work without harming the wood. https://www.gunskins.com/products/rifle-skin Years ago someone made stock and forend coverings that had a zipper for easy removal and covering...

I've heard stories over the years about game wardens ticketing folks calling up birds pre-season with allegations that they were hunting. I don't know if it was garbage talk, but the stories were around. Probably just rural legends. Gil

Last few years I've kept gloves in pocket to keep other stuff from falling out. I got tired of taking them off to use my rivercane yelpers so I just stopped wearing them. It's also easier to nose pick without gloves on, although when I wore gloves I cut off the trigger finger tip of the glove but th...
