Re: Browning 10ga Gold.
I haven't been able to pattern this gun at longer distances yet but my Merriams last week in NE was rolled at 40 yards in heavy brush. That pattern in the photo is with the fixed chokes in the Beretta model 410 double and I have no doubt the gun will pattern well at longer distances. I haven't patte...

Re: Browning 10ga Gold.
Took Rios, Easterns, and Merriams this year with the double Beretta 10 gauge and 2 1/4 oz of 5's. One shot each and kills were decisive. I'm a fan.

Re: How far do you drive
All of those answers sound great to me. There is so little public ground in TX and I haven't found a lease that interests me yet. My closest hunt this year is 1 hour away and my furthest is in Nebraska...no, make that Florida.

I'm still waiting to hear back after emailing them a week ago. They should just post their prices.
I've worked at those elevations above Ruidoso, NM (not too far from there) and will tell you it's more of a factor than most would expect. It's a big deal.

Going to watch it tonight. Thanks for the links.
I haven’t checked if they are available on audio books. Sounds like that would be interesting.

Re: Tom Kelly turkey stories
I've been hunting and reading about hunting for over 40 years and have never even heard of Tom Kelly until recently. I read constantly so I look forward to reading/listening to his works.

Re: Tom Kelly turkey stories
Good point. I could check the library lending systems.
Sometimes, Amazon or other sellers will have excerpts of their books for sale. I haven't found that yet.
I have heard the most references to Tenth Legion. Are his others of similar quality?

Tom Kelly turkey stories
I've never read any of his writings. What do you think of them? Are they pretty consistent or are some better than others? I was thinking of picking up his collection. Is there anywhere to read excerpts to get a feel for them?

That's why one size fits all makes me pause. If they are too big for you, they are even bigger for most guys.

Did you see the single review at that retailer's webpage? Didn't sound very good. Anyone seen it in person and can speak to the quality?

Thanks for all of the replies. I was able to book a 3 day guided hunt in MO for 2 birds. The nice benefit is I'm also curious about their muzzleloading deer hunts so this will give me a chance to check them out. Feel free to offer more options as I would like to hunt in some different states next ye...

Re: Remington declaring bankruptcy?
It's a mess and they have not been impressive for awhile. My gun friends (who all own many dozens of guns each) won't buy current Remington offerings. ALL of these same guys own older Remington guns. I'm of the same opinion; older Remingtons are great. Newer ones are junk. They keep offering things ...

Thanks for the info on SNM. I wasn't aware of them but Cloudcroft, NM is a fantastic area. I'm going to contact them about a future hunt.
