Re: Verifying Red Dot Year to Year

Simple. Site your gun in with tss. Then shoot a lead load. If the pattern is too open at that distance, shoot closer. Make a note where it hits. Shoot at that distance with the (same) lead load to verify each year.

My wife and I voted. Reminded some others to get out and vote. If they don't find a bunch of mail in ballots at the last minute we should be good here in Pa.

Re: My boy got his buck.

Congrats! Straight on isn't a bad shot if placement is on. It looks like he had it figured out. I will give him this, he is a heck of a shot and he listens. I told him that you need to range several trees around you so when you can not use the rangefinder you know how far he is. He did that and kne...

My boy got his buck.

He kept wanting to sit in this one spot even tho he wasn't seeing anything in it this year. It paid off for him Saturday morning. Just before 0900 he had a small buck and doe go running by him. He wanted to get a shot on the doe but they wouldn't stop. Then he heard what they were running from. This...

Re: Blackhorn 209

What was the price a few years ago? Just wondering since I see on a couple sites that $80 for half a pound seems to be the norm. Powder valley has it listed for $479 for five pounds plus hazmat and shipping. That seems like a bit high considering you can get triple seven for $30 a pound plus the ext...

I was a senior in high school. I was on my way to cad class when I heard other kids talking about it. When I got to class coach had it on the tv. His brother was in that area. Re: If you want a good laugh

Jbird (the main one ragging on people for shooting a 410 with tss) is shooting longbeards. I have nothing against longbeard shells (other than their baseball size pattern at 25 yards) but they are the new fad in lead turkey shells. But it is in a 12ga so it is ok, because it has more powder so it ha...

Re: Dumb question about chokes

My questions are: 1) is it the hardness of the steel that is the issue or the fact that steel shot was generally bigger sized pellets Yes and yes. The manufacurer will probably say yes to your second question. If you try it check the choke to see if it is hard to remove. If it is stop shooting throu...

If you want a good laugh

Check this out. It is a long read but it gets funny how so many just don't understand physics. My 12ga has more power because it has more powder!

Re: Whats everyone's ethics on shooting turkeys with a shotgun?

WOW! This thread devolved very quickly, in a very funny way! Does any one drink till morning and then go out and limb lift them? I didn't see that option. On a side note, what are your thoughts on mounting a punt gun on top of your side by side and having your kid drive it? At what age do you let th...

Personally I wouldn't body shoot but I think that is up to the individual. Know your gun and what it will do.

The back of the receiver on the savage is flat where as the h&r is is rounded. Not saying it wouldn't work if you modified it in some way. The bolt for the h&r is also bigger.

My mossberg 500 20ga will shoot a carlson .575 and and ic .555 the same. This is with tss, hevi 13 and a lead load from ballistic products. By the same I mean close enough that you don't need to change your sights.

You said seems to like buffered loads. Are they factory loads or do you have a buffered recipe you are loading?
I got this load from shooter. I used ballistic products original buffer for the 10 shot.

Thanks guys! I should have said that it is a fixed full choke. It shot pretty good with #9 shot (150) and the same with #9.5 shot but it really likes the #10 shot. It also seems to like buffered loads. I am gonna try one out of my 301. My boy claimed the 870. If it does 150 or better I will use them...

Re: Roll vs Fold Crimp

Use a fired shell (trap load will work) to determine how much you need for the crimp. Then back your seating stem all the way out. Then try to crimp it. Move the seating stem down and keep trying. You will get there but go slow. I would do this with a lead load until you get it set, then go with the...
