Doc,
Innocent mistake!....I appreciate ya tracking it down.
That's a nice looking rig too, the color and style looks like a Danny Caywood built Fowler....if it is, it's probably jug choked too.
I bet it's pretty hard on turkeys.

Doc Holliday?
You a long lost relative I don't know about? LOL
That flintlock turkey you posted above is mine. It's a bird I shot in PA in 2017. I posted it a few places I think and it was a featured picture in the May 2018 PA Game News magazine

Thanks everyone....appreciate the comments. I've been doing the flintlock thing for a while and have learned some things about what works and doesn't work. So if anyone is considering trying a flintlock and real black for spring turkeys please feel free to give me a shout. I should be able to speed ...

Re: 20ga FLINTLOCK patterns..... TSS
Do you have any idea about the feet per second the shot is traveling? I've never chronod it but trying to extrapolate from published loads I've seen it's probably around 1000fps maybe a touch better. The shot load is 710grs and the 100grs of Swiss is pretty hot. Probably 15% hotter than an equivale...

Very nice looking smoothbore, patterns and pics and nice POI, is your POI more consistent than it is in a modern gun with a plastic wad? does a nitro card and fiber wad fir thru his choke or are you using felt wads for over the powder? POI is basically identical shot to shot..... Even from powder t...

Very nice. Tell us more about your Fowler. It's an English styled colonial Fowler.....built by Ken Moors in NC. Colerain 38" turkey barrel, Chambers Early Ketland lock, and a plank of modestly figured curly maple. Weighs in at just a touch over 7lbs and handles like a light pump action shotgun...

20ga FLINTLOCK patterns and success..... TSS
A little mix of OLD school and new school that I thought you guys might find interesting. I've been hunting with a flintlock Fowler for turkeys for years but only just started messing with TSS in it over the last 3. It's been deadly so far, and I've tweaked the load a bit more this year. The barrel ...

Re: Flintlock fowler with TSS for turkeys
Congrats Matt! Congrats to you as well! Wait. No shot cup? TSS on bare bore. Don't think I'd do that? I had some concerns about it myself initially, but the shot is so small round and smooth that it seems to flow very well. I can see some light streaking through the choked section of the bore but n...

Re: Flintlock fowler with TSS for turkeys
The smoke keeps rolling! PA bird #2 for the flintlock.
10.5" beard, 20.2lbs, 1" spurs.
The 30yd shot flattened him and he probably had 40-50 holes in his head and neck.
The TSS is rocking them!

This year will be my first time hunting with TSS as well......nicely done. I have a question, and I've noticed this on a couple other close TSS kills. How come they still have heads!?
I've shot birds at 20yds with Hevi #6's that looked like I put their coconut through a meat grinder. LOL
