I don't get e-mail notifications for subscribed topics.

I'm pretty sure I have everything set up correctly.

I think once before someone said there was a bug but no advice on how to get around it.

I'm old and can't remember.

Anybody?

O/U Point of Convergence

I have noticed that on my various O/U turkey guns that the point of convergence between the barrels is significant. This is not noticeable on wing shooting but becomes VERY apparent shooting TSS loads in super tight turkey chokes. I had originally started shooting the O/U with the plan to use a lead...

Re: 28 Ga Tristar G2 Viper Rail Mount

They got right back with me. He was familiar with my gun and said it would fit fine. I ordered it today. I have a FastFire 3 coming to put on it. Are you familiar with the UTG brand? I am kicking around getting one to try on my .410. They have an OP-rdm20r but the battery mounts from the bottom. The...

Re: 28 Ga Tristar G2 Viper Rail Mount

OK, so I decided I may as well upgrade the sight. It will be nice to get the sight down closer to the sight plane than that other sight and mount has always been. It is real awkward to hold your head up off the stock that high when shooting. On that meadow creek mount, I see it is offered in a 6mm. ...

Re: 28 Ga Tristar G2 Viper Rail Mount

I have an old Bushnell red dot that I have been using for years, it mounts on a weaver/picatinny rail. My old eyes seem to pick up the dot mounted out on the rail better than it does on the receiver. My other gun has it mounted like hoobilly has it in the picture with a home made adapter. The rib on...

28 Ga Tristar G2 Viper Rail Mount

I bought a new Tristar G2 Viper 28 Ga last week to turkey hunt with next season. I expected the receiver to have a dovetail mount like my Tristar G2 Viper .410 has. I have a dovetail to weaver rail adapter on it with a red dot. The 28 ga, the same gun exactly other than gauge, does not have the dove...

Re: Lead 7-1/2 Usable Range

Thanks all,

My TSS barrel I am comfortable with 25 yards to 50 (even though I won't shoot that far, it helps when I misjudge distance).

I am working on choke for lead 0-25 yards now.

Good hunting to all.

Lead 7-1/2 Usable Range

I am working on my close barrel in my 28 o/u.

I have some 1oz 7-1/2 lead at 1200 fps.

Does anyone have any idea where I will run out of energy to be effective starting at that velocity?

(I have TSS in the long barrel)

Re: Savage 555 28ga rib mount

I had the same dilemma last year.

I finally bought a piece of bulk Picatinny rail and cut a piece off, grooved the bottom to just fit over the rib and screwed it down into the posts of the rail.

Browning TSS Ammo ThermacCELL Rebate

First of turkey season I bought a box of Browning .410 TSS to try out. It had a rebate to send in $3.95 and get a ThermaCELL. I figured heck, can't never have to many of them! 12 weeks later I finally got my ThermaCELL with a really nice BROWNING sticker on it. One appliance, three pads and NO DANG ...

My buddy in OK shoots one now and I can tell you it’s a featherweight. And I can also tell you it’s a shooting mother F’er. His puts 390 hits in the 10” at 40 yards with my hand loads Marijuana must be legal up there or ya'll need to buy a tape measure. Half of 390 hits with a .410 at 40 yards is d...

It's amazing how many people really drink the Koolaid on this stuff. Anybody know the story of "The Emperor's New Clothes"? I had people arguing with me at the supply house the other day that it works because "they saw it on TV, the turkey walked right up to them out in the open".

Re: The 28 Rises To Speak

For turkey hunting. I carry that way for two reasons. One it diminishes the profile above my head while ducking under bushes etc. Second it puts the gun at the ready SO much faster. My left hand naturally rides on the foreend and I can simply slide it off my shoulder and I am “in battery “, Muzzle ...

Funny how different guns do different things.

The Federals put up 132 at 40 yards and 1075 fps and the Browning put up 100 at 40 yards and 1145 fps in my gun!

Re: Tristar Viper .410 Patterning

Shot the Viper again this morning with a .388" instead of the .380", still with the 11/16 load. Pattern in 10" went from 75 to 115 at 40 yards. Not sure where to go from there. Those were "free" flush chokes. If Briley or Comp N Choke would send me three or four to try and s...

Re: Tristar Viper .410 Patterning

I am going to shoot it again with a looser choke. I think there may be an error with these chokes?

The MOD that came with this gun mikes at .388" which is still .006" tighter than Comp N Chokes XFull for the .410.

If it don't act right, I may have to get with you.

Tristar Viper .410 Patterning

Finally shot this thing with the 11/16 #9 load. It only put up 75 in the 10 at 40 yards. I didn't count the 20. Pretty dismal. I used the factory full. It miked at .380"! That's. 005" tighter than the Sumtoy I have for my old Stevens 555 and .010" tighter than Brileys extra full. Not ...

So now that I posted the results, I will say this. Those numbers are the average, but I did see some strange stuff with this gun. Between the two shots of each shot size load, one shot was roughly 20 pellets higher than the other shot. That happened with nearly every shot size combo I tried. One sh...

Shoot them as is or cut the slits down? Sent from my SM-S327VL using Tapatalk That was my fiasco. bullethead and GLS helped...
