20ga semi-auto's to consider
Being fact that I cannot get a barrel shorter than 26" for my Affinity, I would like to ask you guys your thoughts on a 20ga 3" semi with a 21" barrel. The more I turkey hunt, the more I like the compact, youth models. I have read some info on the Mossberg youth Turkey Thug and Escort...

Re: 870 20 gauge barrel length....21" or 26"
.....more importantly I wanted to add the fact that taking the time to find the right choke/load and properly patterning it is most most important in my opinion. Aftermarket choke tubes (along with some factory) work wonders with TSS and it's all about what type of pattern you want to achieve. As I ...

Re: 870 20 gauge barrel length....21" or 26"
I don't know how much the patterns will differ between the additional 5" of barrel, but I do know I prefer to carry my 870 Youth with the 21" bbl rather than my Affinity with the 26". My 870 is just so much more easier to carry and maneuver around in the woods. The Affinity seems to s...

Re: Handicap Hunting
My buddy Chris doesn't let his limitation to a chair get in the way of anything....especially hunting. We primarily hunt turkeys from a blind but if that isn't feasible he carries camo netting that he can cover up with as well. Chris will even get out of his chair and belly crawl to get into positio...

Could be fowl pox, could be blackhead, or it could be a wound from fighting. Hard to determine without getting analyzed. I would do yourself a favor to reduce the risk of anything and not eat her.....go kill her boyfriend.

Yep....couldn't agree more. Great glass for the price with a no questions asked unlimited lifetime warranty. I have lots of Vortex optics and love them.
Another good one in that class is the Redfield Rebel line.

Memories made and friendships bonded
So I finally had the chance to personally meet and hunt with a great friend of mine whom I met here on GN. I left Illinois last Thursday morning and headed on down to KY to meet Chris and his family. First of all, I cannot say enough about Chris and his family. Chris and Heather welcomed me with ope...

Re: MT Season as of 4/18
I hunt (bear) just outside of Kalispell and Marion. Usually towards the end of May when the snow starts melting up on the old log roads. Definitely need to consider getting out there earlier to tag a merriam as those are the prettiest in my eyes. When I do find the time Hobbes, I'm definitely going ...

Congratulations to all of you Hobbes. Way to get everyone on birds. Those Merriams and your pics are great. Maybe someday I'll get out to NW Montana before May and kill one...I seem to always get cought up in the spring bear hunt out there.

Re: Darwinism and turkey hunters
I will admit I have fanned and have been very successful at doing it. It's very effective at the right time and situation. That being said, I only use this tactic when the time presents itself and most importantly, I hunt my own private property and know and communicate with my neighbors. It's actua...

Re: Missed one today with TSS! (first time using TSS)
With a miss, you appreciate success. Humility is a good trait in this sport. Well said 371, If you hunt, fish, trap.....missing your quarry will happen. When the stars are aligned and you have blood on your hands, those misfortunes and grinding it out makes it all worth it. Hell, I'd rather miss sh...

Love the Fire...especially when the birds are quiet. If you can feeder call a duck, the Fire is a great tool in the bag. Just be careful on public land.

Re: Avian X decoys
I have to admit I hunt with an Avian X Jake and hen. They have proven deadly for me season after season. Now, my teeth were cut bowhunting whitetails here in Illinois and gobblers started to spark my interest 5 years ago. I've been bowhunting whitetails quite a while and almost always would have a g...

Much appreciated input fellas. Trust me, if I do not have to wear gloves I don't. I need to keep my fingers warm for dexterity reasons....frozen ...

Pot call grippers
I love to strike a pot and have various versions from wood to Corian. I run into the problem of not having a solid grip on the pot (especially with gloves on) and having it slip and slide a bit within my grip. So my question to you call makers and pot hunters is, does adding an adhesive gripping pro...
