Re: Opinions?

Yeah, same guy. He definitely split his left ear. You've got some good minerals in the soil for him to add that much bone in a year. Good genes on his part too. I've been feeding the deer at my house for 25 years and have several does who range from 1 to 12 years old that I see every day, The bucks ...

Re: Kudos To Cuddeback

Glad you had good success with yours. I had two Cuddebacks fail within 3 weeks of each other that were both barely out of warranty and it was just too bad. One got moisture through the (supposedly) sealed battery door. The other got submerged in hurricane Florence. I don't expect them to cover that ...

Re: Will He Change?

Will a trumpet with diamonds and gold hardware resonate better? Few will ever know, but I bet it photographs nice.

My 2000 Tacoma is about to turn 300,000 miles this month. Still gets 29 MPG on the highway and it likes snow less than I do.

Congrats on your new Boykin. One of my best buddies has two. One's 9 years old and the other is 7 months old. His 9 year old is one of the best duck dogs I've ever seen. Have fun.

Re: Loggers

At my old lease, we had loggers use one of our clover plots as a loading deck for the back side of the property. They covered the plot in bark, sawdust, left odd shaped logs & limbs piled up and made horrendous ruts with hydraulic fluid & oil spills in what used to be a pristine, killer clover patch...

That is a beautiful view. Turkeys & deer in it only makes it better, I'm sure. Once the trees fully turn, it must look like a painting.

Can't tell its Fall here yet. Had 90 degrees in Raleigh today and 95 in Fayetteville. Endless Summer, I guess?

Re: Coffee..

I met some folks in Indonesia last year who have a palm civet they feed ripe coffee beans to, then feed it a bunch of papaya to make their own Luwak coffee. It's supposed to be some of the best tasting, most expensive coffee in the world. I'm not a coffee drinker, so it would be wasted on me. Those ...

- how about a Merrimams hybrid or Osceola hybrid ? There is no such thing as an Osceola hybrid. A gobbler shot north of that imaginary line is a pure Eastern,...and one shot south of that line is a pure Osceola. Re: Not looking forward to Florence visiting

I hope those in Florence's path can get hunkered down & stay safe. She's gonna be a big one. The weather guessers are saying it might be up around 140 mph when she makes landfall. I'm in the central part of the state and in 1996 Hurricane Fran took us out of power for 9 days. Never seen so many tre...

Re: Thermacell fuel

I bought some inexpensive refillable lighters and cut the valves off the bottom, then shaped them as close to cylinders as I could with a dremel tool. Then, I drilled a hole the the bottom of a spent ThermaCell cartridge and epoxied the valve into the bottom of the cartridge. Once the epoxy cures, t...

Most big cats have white on their ears, except for Puma, black Leopard and Caracal. IIRC, it is so the cubs can see the adults in high grass. I used to work at a breeding compound for third World endangered carnivores. We had Tigers, Leopards, Jaguars, Serval, Caracal, Lynx, Ocelot, Margay, Snow Leo...

THIS is a magnum sized Walking Stick. It dropped down from a tree in Raja Ampat off Papua New Guinea when I was doing a surface interval on a dive trip there a few years ago. They get bigger than this one, if you can believe it.

My hearing damage is from lots of shooting and too much rock & roll at 11 volume level. Been a fun ride, but losing the ability to hear clearly sucks.

Re: Calling In Spring Gobblers Before Opening Date On Land With No Hunting.

I sometimes go practice calling at the State Park a few miles down the road from me. Most of the time gobblers are already busy with hens by the time the park opens and I usually only get courtesy gobbles back. Every now & then a lone gobbler will play along. It is a great way to listen for hen talk...

Re: FIFA World Cup Soccer

A Belgian friend of mine is feeling the power of their comeback win over Japan today. I'm happy for him.

I prefer hockey, where guys try to act like they're not hurt, as opposed to all those diving, faking, soccer wimps.

I always heard that soccer players had checkered balls...
