Good sounding call, what type of wood did you use for your pot and striker?

Re: .243 load suggestions for coyote and deer?

If you were reloading I would highly recommend Berger VLD bullets, they are devastating on game. My buddy and I started shooting them about five years ago, when we got serious about long range shooting. Shot a couple of elk and several deer with them. The elk were taken with 7mm bullets, but we've s...

Re: Crystal mistress

Thanks for the input, I know I am way over thinking it. I'm pretty call poor already, probably end up one of each. I blame it on this addiction some people call turkeyhunting.
Thanks again for the input I appreciate it.

Crystal mistress

I was thinking about ordering a call from Dave Halloran, just wondering if anyone out there was using any if his pot or box calls. If so,how we'll you liked them. His crystal mistress sounds really good to me, just curious how it would stack up to some of the other custom crystals out and the Woodha...

Re: the most effective close-in call?

I never thought of the going away alarm putt move, makes since though. my go to close calls have always been cluck, purr, and leaves. I know no one else does it but I'm pretty bad about throwing in a spit and drum from time to time. whatever works! can't have to many tricks.

Re: houndstooth calls

thanks for the input guys, I was thinking about getting one of his ceramic pots myself. also if anyone is looking for a good owl locator call he makes one of the best I've heard, the gentleman I spoke of in my original post had one, it sounds awesome.

houndstooth calls

anyone ever use any calls made by houndstooth, met a guy while I was hunting in Alabama that used them. sounded pretty good. I carry mostly woodhaven and cody in my vest, but I liked what I heard. just checking to see if their was anybody using these calls and what they thought about them. woodsmans...

Re: Drumming

I've got both the lohman and the MAD spit and drum call, killed birds while using them in conjunction with hen calls so I can't say I wouldn't have killed some of those birds anyway, with a couple of exceptions when there was no doubt that spittin and drummin sealed the deal. both calls are OK, but ...

Re: TSS vs. Hevi shot

thanks for the info WW, I've been shooting nitro's through a .665 jellyhead for several years in my 870 SP, nothing fancy but it's worked pretty well. probably try to load some TSS and do some testing before next season, got to give it a try.

Re: Drumming

I have my own theories about how often toms drum and how effective drumming can be when used along with hen calls in the right situation. I personally think gobblers drum a lot more than most hunters realize. I can't hardly remember a strutting gobblers that I have came in close contact with, 100 yd...

Re: TSS vs. Hevi shot

thanks for the input. TS, I agree with you, I couldn't ask anything more from the Nitro's i've been using. a dead turkey is a dead turkey, just curious about the hype on the TSS shot. always looking for the next best thing I guess, new call, new load, etc. I really appreciate the help. Thanks and Go...

TSS vs. Hevi shot

Probably don't need to change a thing but iv'e been hearing a lot of good things about loading TSS, just wondering what size shot or combination of shot most of you guys that are hunting with TSS are shooting. also i...
