Pattern/barrel problem

I don't want to hurt anyone's feelings but I don't think you will find any gun, choke or shell setup that you will be happy with. Good Luck I hope you do. Lol! It would take a lot more than that to hurt my feelings.... And maybe you're right, but it's not gonna stop me from trying! Sent from my iPh...

Pattern/barrel problem

I absolutely agree that it's fine pattern for hunting out past 60 yards. I just don't like the idea that almost 10% of my pellets are in a completely separate group, 3 feet away from my other group at 40 yards. Probably just being anal/picky, but that's kind of why I'm loading TSS in the first plac...

Pattern/barrel problem

Did you try a different choke? I tried 6 different chokes at 40 yards. This is the one that did the best, so it's the one I'll hunt with. My opinion is that if the one that patterns best has 50 pellet's high left of a 36" sheet of paper, I can do better. Like johndoe said, obviously it's bothe...

Pattern/barrel problem

I'm going to send it back in a week or so. I still have a week of the season left in PA. I might take a new hunter out and let him use it. I shot a few other loads out of it that do similar things. All show high left flyers. I shot it today with the same load at 15 yards and have a group of about 50...

Pattern/barrel problem

It might just be me, but as tight as that pattern is I would put a fastfire 3 on the gun pattern it for 40 yards and hunt the setup. As tight as I see it you will need at least a red dot for close in work anyway. I'd like to see a pattern at 40 yards. As far as you feeling you are loosing a few sho...

This is around 25 yards. I'd assuming a...

Choke bored off center?

Every tube fits the same. It's definitely off center, I'm just not sure if it's a problem. I shot a 23 yard pattern today after I was done hunting, just to see what the short range pattern looked like. It has me even more concerned. The pattern is all good, except for the small patch of extreme flye...

Re: Choke bored off center?

I would say it is not bored off center. When barrels are reamed for chokes a fitted pilot is used to keep it in the center. The barrel is thicker on one side than the other that's all . I bet it shoots fine. I'm fairly sure that it's off center. The second pic is looking down the barrel. You can se...

Re: Choke bored off center?

I had 2 old browning bps 12 gauge cut and threaded this year by a very well respected gunsmith in Alabama and they both look just like that. Mine both shoot around low 300 in the 10 with tss8x9. I'm not concerned at all. I have some machinist experience and it probably has something to do with the ...

Choke bored off center?

Second pic is down the barrel. You can see that where the choke and barrel meet is flush on one side and stepped on the other because of the off center boring job.

Choke bored off center?

Has anyone ever owned a firearm that had the choke bored off center? I bought this gun used, so I'm not sure if Remington will replace the barrel. I also believe they're currently not even producing it. (3" 12 gauge turkey camo rifle sights 20"). It's seems to be shooting ok, point of aim ...
