Re: Who'll Stop the Rain

More water than we know what to do with in central MO. Missouri river levees have broke roads and fields under water. Last I heard something like 200 rds have been closed for weeks. Some lakes are like 33' above normal pool even.

Gergg basically summed it up only thing else I could add to list would be a chop saw to cut to length.

Revenues drive alot of departments decisions! I sure wish it was 4 fall birds in the north central part of state like it used to be. Was fun fall gobbler hunting KS.

On a side note I have no problem with a man killing 20+ gobblers a year if he is traveling and killing that many legally.

Re: buddies and friends who turkey hunt

Poaching is not a good thing in my book and bragging about how many you kill over your limit is worse than anything in my book. I've lost buddies over that type of stuff before. I don't want to even know what those type of people do or even hear about that type of stuff. If a man brags about killing...

Re: First Bird Despite Disrespectful Hunters

I'm sorry to see that you "had" to "reap" a bird to get your buddy his first gobbler. In my opinion a first Turkey should be called up to the gun without decoys or a popup blind. Reaping on public ground no matter if you think no one is there is definitely not what I would teach someone who is start...

Re: nitro or apex...? straight or duplex...?

On my long range #8s patterns I was putting 400+ in the 10 at 40. Was some where around 60%+ in the 10" at that range. There was only a couple pellets outside the 20" if I remember correctly. I only shot a couple turkeys (also some geese) with it and it definitely destroyed their heads.

It's my opinion that duplex loads limit your killing range to the smallest shot in the duplex.

Re: nitro or apex...? straight or duplex...?

In my real world testing on birds I wouldn't shoot a bird past 70yds with 9s. With 8s they will kill past where I have been able to hold a pattern together.

At that range does pellet count out weigh 8 lethality
You have to have enough killing power in pellet count along with penetration power in each pellet in the pattern.

Re: nitro or apex...? straight or duplex...?

I've patterned loads to 80yds and at that range I would use straight 8s but you better know your drop and wind age they really start to come into play at 70+

Straight 9s kill and hold patterns past 70. Do you plan on shooting birds at 80+yds???

Re: Which 20 or 28 Gauge Auto?

I have a x3, an 11-87, and a m2 all are quality guns in my opinion. The m2 is definitely lighter but the x3 is the softest recoiling. Have had no problems out of them.
